Esta vez ha sido Mike Gerson, el que fuera redactor de discursos del Presidente Bush entre 2001 y 2006. Teólogo de carrera, en febrero de 2005 fue incluído por la revista Time en su selección de los 25 evangélicos más influyentes de América. Pues el caso es que ha escrito un artículo en el Washington Post, en el que se une al coro de conservadores críticos con Giuliani por su posición respecto al aborto. Gerson lo acusa de incoherente y pronostica que no llegará muy lejos defendiendo el argumento del "lo odio pero lo acepto". Giuliani's Abortion Muddle

How can the violation of a fundamental human right be viewed as a private matter? Not everything that is viewed as immoral should be illegal; there are no compelling public reasons to restrict adultery, for example, or to outlaw sodomy. But when morality demands respect for the rights of a human being, those protections become a matter of social justice, not just personal or religious preference. (...)
